Ghanaians urged to uphold the nation’s peace and unity

The Reverend Dr Paul Frimpong-Manso, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, has reminded Ghanaians to uphold the nation’s peace and unity as they join the rest of the world to celebrate Christmas.

They should put the nation ahead of individual ambition and pull together to make things better for all.

The Rev Dr Frimpong-Manso was delivering the sermon at the Xmas Day service, held at the True Worshipers Assemblies of God Church, Old Tafo in Kumasi.

The theme for his message was: “What is your reaction towards the greatest news about the birth of Christ”.

The General Superintendent said the birth of Christ has brought hope to mankind and urged Christians to continue to pray fervently to God to shower His blessings on the nation and guide the leaders in the discharge of their duties.

They should also show compassion and kindness to the needy, the sick and the poor.

At the Adum Wesley Methodist Cathedral, the Very Rev Samuel Kofi Osabutey, Director of the Lay Ministries of the Church, said Christmas was symbolic as it reminded the world of the need to reconcile to ensure a harmonious society.

“Without reconciliation, it will be difficult for us to forgive one another for wrongs committed.”

Rev Osabutey encouraged all followers of Christ to lead pure and upright lives in keeping with the teachings of the Bible adding that they should distance themselves from all forms of social vices and indignities.

He advised the congregation to be law-abiding and to show respect to those put in leadership positions.
