Ghanaians urged to ensure peace, unity and harmony

Kumasi, April 10, GNA – Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, Bishop of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church, has urged Ghanaians to shun ethnicity and intra-party conflicts and foster harmony and unity for development. He said the death of Jesus Christ should reconcile the world and asked the people to use the occasion to forgive one another. Rt. Rev. Asante, who was delivering the sermon to mark Easter, at Adum Wesley Cathedral in Kumasi on Good Friday, urged Ghanaians to supplement the effort of government in the socio-economic development of the country by working hard to improve productivity. At the Ramseyer Presbyterian Church at Adum in Kumasi, Rev. Otuo Acheampong, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery, asked Christians to maintain high moral standards to project a positive image of Christianity.

He urged them to be disciplined and avoid back-biting, arrogance and disrespect for Church rules and regulations. Rev. Acheampong called on various groups in the Church to commit resources for evangelism to increase the membership of the religious organisation. Delivering the sermon at the Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church, Bantama, Kumasi, Rev. Peter Kofi Nyarkoh, said Ghanaians have every cause to thank God for seeing the nation through difficult times over the years. He said the successful elections Ghana went through last year coupled with the peace and unity the nation was enjoying were all by God’s grace. He appealed to Ghanaians to be law-abiding and honour their tax obligation. 10 April 09
