Ghanaians urged to be what they really are

Apam (C/R), April 16, GNA – The Parish Priest of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Apam, Rev. Fr. Joseph Afful-Rhule, has called on Ghanaians to refrain from pretending to be what they are not.

Preaching at a church service at Apam to mark Palm Sunday, he said the Jews gave Jesus a heroic welcome into Jerusalem because they knew he could heal their sicknesses and not because of the love they had for him.

The Parish Priest said many Ghanaians follow people in authority not because they like them or their policies but because they expect to gain favours from them.

He said such people are the first to condemn “their so called idols” when they get into trouble just as the Jews did. After singing praises of Hosanna in honour of Jesus, they were quick to shout crucify him, when he was sent to the court of Pilate.

We must at all times learn to support what is good and desist from allowing earthly things to becloud our sense of judgement. Earlier the congregation paraded the streets of Apam with palm branches singing Hosanna in praise of Jesus.
