Ghanaians did not vote based on performance – Kabila

Former National Youth Organiser of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh Jnr., popularly called Kabila, says if Ghanaians had voted based on performance of party’s, the NDC woudn’t have been in power to govern.

According to him, the failure of Ghanaians to scrutinize the performance of government and parliamentary candidates has led to many persons being elected but cannot deliver.

Making his submissions on Oman FM’s political analysis programme, Kabila averred that President Mahama has failed to honour his oath of Presidency and as a result blatantly disrespected the constitution.

He wondered why President Mahama, with all his experiences in government, would downplay the provisions in the constitution.

“You have been a Member of Parliament, Mr. President. You have been a Minister of State; Deputy Minister. You’ve been a Vice President and now, a President. You’ve sworn an oath to uphold this constitution…He’s disrespecting our constitution,” he said.

To him, there seems to be a “spirit” dwelling in the ruling National Democratic Congress which corrupts even the good people within the party.

“We don’t cast our votes based on performance. If we vote based on performance, Ghanaians would not have voted for this government. If we vote based on performance, so many people would not be in Parliament…So, we must learn; what it is to show the exit to these people in government through the ballot box…

“There’s a spirit in that party that even if you’re a good person with a good motive, as soon as you become part of it; you forget it. It’s a cult that was visited on Ghana from 31st December, 1981 unfortunately,” Kabila surmised.
