Ghanaians and Cubans Celebrate 158th Anniversary of the Birth of Jose Marti

Havana, Cuba, Feb 5.- On the occasion of the 158th anniversary of the birth of Jose Marti, Cuban professors carrying out internationalist missions in Ghana organized activities at the schools where they’re working.

Following an initiative of Professor Ruben Maymir, the Club of Spanish Language was inaugurated at the Institute of Modern Languages located in Accra, the Ghanaian capital, which will make it possible for students to know more about the culture and societies of Hispanic peoples.

A virtual site was prepared and presented on the page of that teaching center, where different educational materials related to the life and work of the apostle of the island’s independence are shown.

The Web page will favor the students’ interaction with the foreign language they’re studying, the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site reported.

Cuban professor Ana Luisa Maceo delivered a lecture on Marti’s work and thinking, by way of which Ghanaians became familiar with the Simple Verses of the National Hero, recited some of its verses and sang others set to music. (AIN)
