The Times says Princess Diana, 36, the Princess of Wales, died early yesterday morning at the Saint Salpetriere Hospital in Paris from injuries sufered in an automobile accident. The Times reports on the front page that President Jerry John Rawlings yesterday expressed shock at the death of Britain’s Princess Diana in a car crash in Paris. “We have learnt with shock and deep sadness of the tragic death of Princess Diana early this morning following a motor accident in Paris,” the Times quoted President Rawlings as saying in a message to the British Royal Family and the Prime Minister. The message said the Princess was a deeply sympathetic personality whose dedication to charitable work brought comfort and hope to many the world over. “Her tragic and untimely death fills us in Ghana with a deep sense of sorrow for her children, family and the British people,” says the times quoting the message. “ECOWAS heads sanction Sierra Leone,” is the headline of another story which captures the front page of the Times. The Times reports that West African Heads of State ended their 20th Summit in Abuja, Nigeria at the weekend pledging to remove Sierra Leone’s military junta and restore civilian rule. This they have decided to do through tougher sanctions, including an embargo on supply of food items, fuel, arms and travels by the leaders of the AFRC junta. GRI
