Another Ghanaian teenager has been arrested and charged on suspicion of murdering the Ghanaian aspiring professional footballer Godwin Nii Lawson. Moise Avorgah, 19 of St Ann’s Road, Tottenham, north of London was charged with the murder of 17-year-old Godwin Lawson on Saturday, March 27, in Hackney, in East London.
He has also been charged with the attempted murder of two other people, an 18-year-old Julian Escobar and a 20-year-old Daniel Escobar who were friends of Lawson.
Lawson, 17, from Enfield, was in Amhurst Park in Stanford Hill also in East London with his two friends when he was attacked by at least four men at around 1.50am.
The soccer starlet who feared the activities of the gang had left home to escape the gang’s violence was stabbed in the chest to death when he returned to visit his family from Oxford where he had been engaged in football studies. The talented footballer who was a member of the Oxford United’s football academy also dreamed of playing for Manchester United. He fell victim to a vicious turf war raging in Hackney, East London and was stabbed in the chest and died at the scene
Avorgah was arrested by Detectives in Finsbury Park in North London, over the weekend and took him to a north London police station, where he remained in custody before he was arranged before the Brent Magistrate Court in North London on Saturday.
He was remanded in custody until a hearing at the Old Bailey, (The Central Criminal Court in England) on Wednesday, 7th of April.
