Tema (GAR), June 25, – Ghana will not export drugs to developed countries in retaliation to the harm that arms from advanced countries is causing in developing countries. Mr Albert Bosumtwi-Sam, Deputy Minister of the Interior, gave this assurance at a lecture organised by the Trades Union Congress for port workers at Tema to mark this year’s International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking which falls tomorrow. The Deputy Minister, reacting to a question as to why developing countries like Ghana should not support drug trafficking in retaliation for arms from developed countries, said two wrongs do not rpt not make a right. Mr Bosumtwi-Sam who is also the chairman of the Narcotics Control Board, warned that since the advanced countries have more sophisticated weapons, sending them drugs could be dangerous because one drug addict in charge of such weapons can decide to push a button to blow up the whole world. He said Ghana has joined the international community to fight drug trafficking and urged Ghanaians to assist the nacortics control board with information on drug barons.
