Ghana to mark International Year of Sanitation

Accra, Feb. 21, GNA – Ghana will join other nations on February 26 to mark this year’s International Year of Sanitation to emphasize access to basic sanitation as a centrepiece of poverty eradication commitments under the Millennium Development Goals.

According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Environment, the programme would be launched by the Minister, Mr Kwadwo Adjei-Darko at Chorkor in Accra. The theme for this year’s programme in Ghana was; “Building Partnership for Improved Sanitation”.

The statement said the programme for the launch would include voluntary clean-up exercises and public lectures.
