‘Ghana can be business-friendly’

Ghana can become the most business-friendly country in Africa, former deputy governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said.

“Together we can build a new globally competitive economy and make Ghana the most people-friendly and most business-friendly economy in Africa,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo wrote on his Facebook wall to thank his fans for listening to, watching, and reading his response to the government’s 2016 budget.

He said the New Patriotic Party’s statement touched on the “seven-year record of the current government and our alternative vision for reviving and growing the Ghanaian economy and developing the country.”

“I appreciate the time you took to watch, listen and read,” he said, adding: “I look forward to more of such interactions with you in the coming weeks and months.”

Among other things, Dr Bawumia used the press conference to accuse the government of wasting all the opportunities it has had by virtue of resources accrued from commercial oil production for the past five years. He also said many lives have been destroyed under the Mahama administration, and the power crisis worsened. Also, Dr Bawumia said the NDC government has borrowed more than any other government in the history of the country.
