Ghana Ambassador to Italy presents Credentials

Her Excellency Mrs. Evelyn Anita Stokes-Hayford, Ghana’s new Ambassador to Italy, has presented her Letters of Credence to Italy’s President, Georgio Napolitano in Rome.
The ceremony which took place at the Quirinale – Italy’s seat of Government – followed with a discussion between the two in chambers. Accompanying the Ambassador were: Ms. Georgina Bridget Adzo Djameh (Minister, Head of Chancery), Mr. Charles Baah (Minister, Consular Affairs) and Mr. Aikins Abrokwa (First Secretary, Trade & Investment) – all from the Ghana Embassy in Rome. In a brief remark after the ceremony, Ambassador E.A. Stokes-Hayford said from conversation with the Italian President she found him a knowledgeable person who has the good of Africa, especially Ghana. “I assured him of Ghana’s continuous co-operation with Italy and my desire to continue the good work of my predecessors.
Later at her exquisite residence, the Ghanaian Honourable Stateswoman was feted at a cocktail which a section of Ghanaians community in Italy, some few other diplomats and dignitaries were among the guests. Also present was Cardinal Appiah Turkson – Ghana’s first Catholic Cardinal who heads the Vatican Justice and Peace office.
The Ambassador expressed her gratitude to all those present saying she has come to Italy as the mother of all Ghanaians in the country. “My doors are open to all day and night. Italy and Ghana has a long standing relation and I pledge to continue that relation and improve upon it,” she added. She had time to chat with her guests, most of them looking for space to take photograph with her and her family.
