Ghana Airways Management Clash With Cabin Crew

The national airline, Ghana Airways has come into the spotlight again ? but this time it is about an impasse between the management and the airline?s cabin crew.

Sources close to the airline say the management of the national carrier have threatened to sack a large number of the cabin crew for holding the airline to ransom at Duseldorf in Germany last week.

A memorandum signed by very senior authorities of the airline states that each cabin crew member should, among others, give reasons for the action they took, details of the part they played, state whether consideration was given to the comfort of the passengers and also state whether they considered the current state of the company.

A cabin crewmember told Joy News that the crew operated the airline GH 713 to London and subsequently to Dusseldorf last week but not a dime of their normal meal allowance or their per diem was paid to them.

The crewmembers said they had to live on charity through out the flight.

This, they said got to a point where they could no longer bear, so they refused to operate the flight from Dusseldorf to Accra ? a decision that delayed the flight for at least two hours.

They later rescinded their decision after talks with management.

But upon arriving in Accra, our sources say the Ghana Airways management are threatening to terminate the appointment of the cabin crew who were involved in the hold-up.

The cabin crew are currently meeting to decide on what to do next.
