GHA urged to act quickly to repair two weak bridges over River Offin

An appeal has been made to the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) to repair two weak bridges built over the Offin River at Adiembra and Kotokuom in the Atwima-Mponua District.

Mr. Christian Nyantakyi, Assembly Member for Adiembra, said this is necessary to prevent imminent tragedy and that the two bridges constructed more than 60 years ago and have never seen any rehabilitation.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that they had developed deep cracks and become a death trap for the people of the area.

Mr. Nyantakyi said if allowed to collapse, the economic and social cost would be enormous.**
