GETFUND Administrator inspects projects

Winneba (C/R), June 21, GNA – The Ghana Education Fund (GETFUND) Administrator, Mr Fosuaba Mensah Banahene, on Monday inspected development projects being undertaken by the government to improve the infrastructure at the University of Education, Winneba.

A total of about 17 billion cedis from the GETFUND is expected to be spent on the projects, which include, the construction of a lecturers’ office complex at the North Campus, rehabilitation of the ‘Amu Hall’ at the Central Campus and rehabilitation of roads in the North Campus.

The other components are the rehabilitation of Assembly/Lecture Hall, construction of a two-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, and construction of lecturers’ flats.

Of the total contract sum of 16.7 billion cedis, government has already paid 16.6 billion cedis.

The projects are averagely more than 60 percent completed. Mr Banahene express the hope that the University authorities would continue to monitor and supervise progress of work at the various levels to ensure that the huge sums of money invested on the projects would not be a waste.
