GETFund Administrator commend contractors

Sunyani, June 11, GNA – Mr Fosuaba Mensah Banahene, the GETFund Administrator, on Thursday inspected on-going projects at Sunyani Polytechnic and commended the contractors for their zeal to complete the work on schedule.

The projects include 14 billion cedis four-storey new hostel to accommodate about 500 students, 2.3 billion cedis three-storey lecture hall complex and 687 million cedis Principal’s bungalow.

Mr Banahene expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the projects and commended the contractors, Kumasi-based Ankomadu Construction Limited, which was putting up the hostel, J.Y. Nana Kwadwo Seinti, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and Mr Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive accompanied the GETFund Administrator.

Mr Banahene explained that the government embarked upon the projects, “seeing the need to provide more accommodation for the increasing number of tertiary students in the country” adding that 17 hostels were being provided throughout the country.

The GETFund Administrator noted that the hostels would have facilities as barbering and hairdressing salons, canteens, shops and Internet cafes to enable the students to live comfortably and concentrate on their studies.

He said the Sunyani Polytechnic was leading in the projects “because the contractors have worked so fast” and expressed the hope that the work would be completed by next December.

Nana Seinti expressed appreciation for the efforts of the GETFund Administrator and assured him of paying periodic visits to the sites to ensure that the projects were completed on schedule.

He praised Mr Sam Adu-Addae, Managing Directors of the construction firms, “for their excellent performance”.
