Germany’s Foreign Minister to visit Ghana

Berlin – German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is to visit Ghana and Nigeria during a three-day visit to West Africa this week, the Foreign Ministry announced in Berlin Tuesday.

Steinmeier is to meet Nigerian President Umaru Yar’Adua and Foreign Minister Ojo Maduekwe on Wednesday for talks on crisis regions in Africa, in particular in Sudan’s Darfur Province.

On Thursday, Steinmeier is to travel to Ghana for talks with President John Kufuor, the current chairman of the African Union. He is also to meet Foreign Minister Akwasi Osei Adjei.

German parliamentarians and cultural representatives are to accompany Steinmeier on the trip.
