General Hospital for Teshie to be ready in October

Accra, May 21, GNA – Work on the 100-bed General Hospital at Teshie is expected to be completed by October this year. President John Evans Atta Mills, cut sod for work to begin on the 10-million-dollar project being financed by Chinese Government in April l= ast year.

Mr Hu Yujie, Counsellor of Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ghana, announced this during= a familiarisation tour by Mr Rojo Mettle-Nunoo, Deputy Minister of Health i= n Accra on Friday. He was accompanied by Nii Nortey Duah, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports and Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku. Mr Hu said the project being implemented under the Beijing Summit on=

China-Africa Cooperation, would include a Malaria Research Centre to facilitate research into the disease.

Other facilities are Out-Patient-Department, Radiology Unit with CT and X-ray, two operating theatres, ultrasound, enterscopy, gastroscopy and electro-cardiogram. Mr Hu said in addition to the provision of medical care and other services such as optometry, accident and emergency centres, maternal and child health and physiotherapy, it had a Scientific Herbal Treatment Cent= re. He noted that the hospital would boost the existing cordial relationship between both countries for the mutual benefit of their peopl= es. Mr Mettle-Nunoo said government was committed to ensure that health care facilities were provided in all communities for easy access to quali= ty health care delivery. He expressed government’s appreciation to the Chinese Government for=

the project.
