Gender Ministry presents items to Ho Leprosorum

The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon. Nana Oye Lithur has paid a visit to the Ho Leprosorum in the Volta Region and donated food and non-food items to the inmates. The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of the region, Hon. Francis Komla Ganyaglo and representatives from the Department of Social Development.

Presenting the items, Hon. Nana Oye Lithur affirmed government’s commitment to improving the conditions of vulnerable persons and strengthen social protection systems in the country.

The Minister also encouraged the general public to give to the poor and to make donations to social welfare centres saying that, the spirit of Christmas is to share love and care to all persons especially the less privileged.

The Ho Leprosorum is one of the special centres receiving periodic payment from the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme (LEAP). Speaking on behalf of the Leprosorium, the Head Caregiver thanked the Minister and her delegation for the kind gesture
