GCPP National Congress slated for on February 28

Accra Feb. 17, GNA – The Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) would on Saturday February 28, hold its National Delegates’ Congress in Accra to elect its flag bearer.

A statement signed by Mr John Amekah, General Secretary of the Party, on Tuesday said an Accra High Court had lifted an interim injunction it placed on GCPP restraining it from holding the Congress. “The Accra High Court sitting on February 9, 2004 has authorised the Party to hold its National Delegates’ Congress any day from February 9. 2004,” the statement said.

It further stated that in line with the court’s ruling, the Party’s National Executives Committee had met and agreed to hold its Congress at the Citadel House Auditorium, near First Light, Kaneshie. Positions to be contested for at the national level include: National Chairman; First and Second Vice Chairmen, General and Deputy Secretaries, Treasurer and Deputy Treasurer.

The rest are: Organiser, Education Secretary, Women Organiser and Youth Leader and their deputies.
