The GCB Tower at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Accra, has been shut down following a fire scare in the early hours of Monday.

Some workers in the building who spoke to Starrfmonline.com on condition of anonymity said they were evacuated from the building and their various offices locked.

The GCB Tower adjacent Ground Zero where over 150 people died in the June 3 disaster, houses various companies including the GCB Bank.

Workers of the GCB Bank and other companies have all been asked to go home with their offices shut over the incident.

According to one of the workers, the fire started in the basement of the huge building but managers of the building quickly averted any possible disaster.
