GCB donates to six organisations

Tema, Aug 27, GNA- The Tema Zone of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) on Wednesday donated 80 million cedis and some food items to six organisations in communities in which the bank operates.

The donation also formed part of activities marking the 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Bank. The amount was realised through a sponsored walk.

The beneficiaries are Ghana AIDS Commission and Tema Regional Police Command. They received 20 million cedis each. State School for the Deaf at Adjei Kojo near Ashaiman and Tema SOS Orphanage got 10 million cedis plus a mini bag of rice, a carton each of milo/milk, and two full pieces of cloth each.

The rest are the State School for the Blind at Akropong and the School for the Deaf at Mampong-Akwapim that had 10 million cedis each. Making the presentation, Mrs Gladys Brobbey, Manager of the Tema Main branch, said the amount would help the beneficiaries solve some of their problems.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Agnes Sikanartey, Tema Regional Police Commander, thanked the donors on behalf of the beneficiaries. She also commended individuals and organisations that support the police in cash and kind to combat crime in the municipality.
