Gbeho pledges support for NDC, Mills

THE Member of Parliament elect for the Anlo Constituency, Mr James Victor Gbeho, has reiterated his commitment and loyalty to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and pledged his support for the party in the forthcoming presidential run-off.

?I wish to assure you that my loyalty and that of my people to the NDC and Professor Atta Mills is total and we will do all that we can to ensure victory in the run-off,? he said.

Mr Gbeho, who is also the Foreign Minster, gave the assurance in an interview in Accra yesterday. He said the averagely low turn-out in the December 7 elections was due to the electorate?s assumption that the NDC will clinch a first round victory. He gave the assurance that the NDC would adopt strategies to win the forthcoming presidential slot. Mr Gbeho further pledged his commitment to the development of his constituency and the country as a whole.

?What I want is inconsequential but what my people want is paramount and we will ensure that these dreams become a reality,? he stressed. He said he would revive the communal spirit in the people by actively getting involved in their activities as well as encouraging them to attend public meetings to contribute to the development of the area. Mr Gbeho attributed the failure of the NDC to capture the Anlo seat to the refusal of the party?s hierarchy to listen to the people. He expressed the hope that the party hierarchy would take a cue and re-organise itself to face the great task ahead.

On the allegation by Sqd Ldr C. M. K. Sowu to the effect that he had employed spiritual means to win the Anlo seat, Mr Gbeho said he is a staunch Roman Catholic and said there was no way he could dabble in spiritism and described the statement as an effusion of a poor loser which must be dismissed outright.
