GBC establishes University College

Kumasi, Nov. 2, GNA – The Ghana Baptist Convention (GBC) has joined the race of missionary university education by setting up a university college as part of efforts to support the government’s human resource development programme.

The vision is to create a centre of excellence for teaching, learning innovation and research, professional competence and Godly ethics in academic discipline from a Biblical world.

The Reverend Dr Samuel Nyarko Boapeah, Vice President of the College, made this known to the Ghana News Agency in an interview in Kumasi. He said the mission of the College is to ‘train, educate, develop and mentor men and women who would excel in influencing and impacting society through integration of academic learning and Christian faith. Rev. Boapeah said the College, which would take off in November this year, had started receiving applications from qualified students, who wanted to be educated in God’s fearing manner.

He said the core values of the College would be scholarship, discipleship, stewardship and leadership.

He mentioned Management and Information Technology, Banking and Finance, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship and Marketing, and Theology as some of the programmes which would be run by the College. The Vice President said other programmes in the health and allied sciences, music and Nursing would also be introduced as time went by. He said two campuses Accra and Abuakwa would be added to the Kumasi City campus, which would begin admissions in November.
