GBC board members call on information minister

Board members of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, at his office in Accra.

Mr Kwame Asante, Board Chairman of GBC, said the visit was to enable the newly constituted board members to introduce themselves to the minister and also build a good relationship.

He assured the minister that the board would strengthen its relationship with all stakeholders to ensure the progress of the state broadcaster.

Mr Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations, congratulated the new board members and urged them to work hard for the progress of GBC.

He said GBC is the main public broadcaster with a track record of strengthening democracy in Ghana and it is imperative to maintain its integrity.

He also urged members of the board to address the financial challenges facing the state broadcaster adding that government would give them the needed support.

“I am very much aware that the new board members have the capacity to address the challenges facing GBC and the government will give you all the support to succeed,” he said.
