Reports reaching DAILY GUIDE indicate that unknown assailants on Tuesday at about 12 am, gunned down Alhaji Baba Imoro Dandane, 65- year-old leader of Fulani herdsmen in Ghana, while sleeping with his family at Nkawkaw-trado in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The deceased has since been buried at Nkawkaw in accordance with Muslim tradition after a postmortem had been performed on the body at the Holy Family Hospital by Dr. Siaw Larety, a pathologist from Kumasi.
The deceased’s wife, Hajia Amina Umoria, told DAILY GUIDE that on Tuesday dawn at 12 am while they were asleep, they heard a strong knock at their door.
Hajia said in tears that when they woke up, three young men wearing masks entered the room and moved straight to the chamber where Baba was sleeping and shot him dead.
Chief Superintendent James Sarfo Preprah, the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Commander, confirmed the incident in an interview. He said the deceased received two gun shots on the shoulders close to his neck, but nothing was taken away by the killers.
According to Chief Superintendent Sarfo Preprah, the killers are believed to be those who on 13 December, 2014, went to Nkawkaw Zongo to kill one Zakara Tanko.
Sources told DAILY GUIDE that Baba is believed to be a mediator who settles cases among the Fulanis in the area.
