Free SHS good for Ghana’s future – NGO

Youth Network for Peace-Ghana (YNP), a Non-Governmental Organisation, has urged parents and guardians to take full advantage of the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme of the Akufo-Addo government to secure the future of their children.

Last week, Minister of Education Dr Mathew Opoku Prempeh at a press conference spelt out details of the implementation of the government’s flagship programme.

In a press statement, the Communications Directorate of YNP, said: “As a youth group, education, skills training, and entrepreneurship is one of our topmost priority that when well exploited, will reduce the unemployment rate among the youth in the country. We are hereby …calling on the youth, especially the JHS graduates across the country, to take advantage of this policy.

“Listening to the Education Minister, it clearly shows that government is really committed in fulfilment of its promise of eliminating payment of school fees, examination fees, laboratory fees, computer fees, developmental levy and part of PTA levies.

“Despite the little economic challenges, the Minister assured the youth that it would not affect the implementation of the Free SHS agenda. We are urging all the youth to take this opportunity very seriously to ensure a successful future for the nation.”
