Free computer training to begin next July

Accra, Nov. 27, GNA- A three-year computer training programme for graduates selected from various Senior Secondary Schools (SSS) and staff from organizations and institutions would be given free training in computer software, scheduled to take off in July next year.

Mr Michael Sowah, Managing Director of Micro Channel Systems, an organization engaged in long term contracts with schools and organization in Information Technology (IT) training announced this at graduation ceremony for 34 persons who had successfully completed training in the organization.

He said his organization has plans for various orphanages, where computer workshops would be organized for kids at such places with the aim of making every literate person computer literate by 2010, especially literate persons within the La Dadekotopon constituency.

Mr Sowah said the organization needed about 90 million cedis to cover the training programme and appealed to Ghanaians and philanthropists to help either in cash or in kind to enable it achieve its aim.

He also called on the La Traditional Council to make available land to enable the organization to put up a better and conducive learning centre that could allow a lot of people to participate in the training programme.

Ms Vivian Obodai, on behalf of those who passed out urged parents to encourage their children to take IT training seriously.
