Four persons nabbed for allegedly printing fake dollars.

Tema, May 17, GNA – The Tema Circuit Tribunal on Tuesday remanded four persons in prison custody for allegedly printing fake dollar notes at Lashibi near Sakumono.

The plea of Theophilus Lampetey Lemchi, a Contractor, Solomon Armah Aryee, Sales Supervisor, Michael Tackie, Teacher and Francis Kwapong, Store Assistant was not taken. They would reappear on May 23, 2000.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Michael Yirenkyi told the tribunal, chaired by Mr R. C. Azumah, that on May 12, 2000, following a tip off, the Police went to a house at Lashibi, where it was alleged, a lot of criminal activities go on.

He said a search conducted in the house revealed 46 bundles of black paper cut into the size of $10,000 notes and a quantity of the paper, which had not yet been cut.

The prosecution said other items including developers, used in the printing of the fake currencies were seized. Police investigations are continuing.
