Former NDC constituency chairman caution supporters

Techiman (B/A), June 21, GNA – Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been cautioned to conduct themselves well at the up-coming party’s congress, scheduled for early July in Sunyani, to maintain party unity.

Nana Kyeremeh Ampaabeng, former Sunyani East NDC Chairman, who made the call, asked the party to avoid any situation that could result in the creation of factions to ruin the fortunes of the party in Election 2012, after the event.

The former NDC constituency chairman in an interview with GNA in Techiman, stressed that any attempt by supporters of the two candidates vying for the flagbearship of the party, President John Evans Atta Mills and Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, former first lady, to engage in insults during their campaigns, could send the party back to opposition.

Nana Ampaabeng appealed to supporters and sympathizers of the two candidates to use decent language as they canvass for votes. He said: 93Both candidates are good materials for the party and any negative utterances against any of them might pave way for the opposition parties to use that as a campaign tool against NDC in Election 2012.

Nana Ampaabeng said 93The use of unsavoury language against each other can destroy the chances of the party to achieve victory”, and advised supporters to remain calm and work in the interest of the “Better Ghana Agenda”.

Nana Ampaabeng was optimistic that the leadership of the party would work hard to solve the impasse in the party, saying the leadership 93has a crucial role to play before the congress in Sunyani, to bring life back to the party”.
