Former assemblyman calls for intensive monitoring of spraying gangs

Abuakwa (Ash), Feb 8, GNA – Mr Joseph Akintola Amankwaa, former assemblyman for Mpasaso No.2 in the Ahafo-Ano South district, has called for an intensive monitoring of cocoa spraying gangs to consolidate gains so far made in the exercise.

He said reports were rife that the gangs were diverting volumes of chemicals meant for the mass cocoa spraying exercise and that he had evidence of such allegations.

Mr Amankwaa who was speaking to the GNA at Abuakwa in the Atwima-Nwabiagya district mentioned Mpasaso and Nerebehi as particular areas where some miscreants among the sprayers engage in such activities.

The former assemblyman suggested that the chemicals be kept at area council offices for effective monitoring by farmers and other opinion leaders as a measure against the reported diversion.
