Former Ashanti NDC executives declare support for Asamoah

Kumasi — Former members of the Ashanti regional executive of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have publicly declared their support for Dr Obed Asamoah, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, as running mate of the party’s flag bearer in this year’s elections.

They hold the view that with Dr Asamoah’s rich depth of experience in constitutional democracy and international diplomacy, his partnership with Professor J.E.A. Mills would make for efficient leadership and good governance. These were contained in a press statement issued and signed on behalf of the former NDC executive by Mr A.K. Mensah, their spokesman in Kumasi.

The statement praised Dr Asamoah for what it said is his loyalty, honesty and high level commitment to the cause of the party. It said this has made him to become popular, enjoying tremendous amount of goodwill that transcends ethnic barriers, adding that his teaming up with Professor Mills would bring huge satisfaction to the teeming supporters of the party.

The statement said Dr Asamoah’s choice as running mate would go a long way to determine the outcome of the 2000 polls.
