Forikrom installs new chief

Forikrom (B/A), Nov. 23, GNA – A 45-year-old journalist, Mr Osei Bonsu, has been installed as chief of Forikrom and Benkumhene of the Techiman traditional area under the stool name Nana Okogyeman Kese Basahyia II.

He succeeded his late uncle Nana Kwaku Agyeapong, who died last year at the age of 102.

Speaking after his installation, Nana Kese Basahyia said he would give prime attention to the rapid development of the area and asked the people to support him towards the attainment of this goal.

He envisaged the institution of a scholarship scheme to support brilliant but needy pupils and students, especially girls.

Nana Kese Basahyia asked the people to unite to be able to help initiate development projects and the implementation of government policies and programmes in the area.

He appealed to the people to avoid destroying the environment and rather help to protect the ecology through tree planting exercises to safeguard and protect water bodies.

Nana Opoku Boakye, Krontihene of Forikrom, on behalf of the chiefs of the area pledged their support and co-operation to the new chief.
