Five more police posts for Ho

The Ho Municipal Assembly is to open five new police posts in the Municipal area, Mrs Fafa Adinyira, Ho Municipal Chief Executive, said on Thursday.

She said the additional police posts had become necessary in view of the increasing population and the relative high crime rate in the area.

Mrs Adinyira was addressing a Town Hall meeting organised by Community Development Concerns, a civil society organization with support from the Assembly and the Netherlands Development Organization under the Social Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability project.

Security in the regional capital has become a major concern following the establishment of tertiary institutions and financial institutions.

Mrs Adinyira said fast growing communities such as Sokode, Adaklu, Matse, Akoefe and Hodzo were likely to benefit from the new police posts while the Ho Central Police Station would be given a facelift befitting a Municipal status.

She said the Assembly was in talks with traditional authorities of beneficiary communities and called for support from all.

Mrs Adinyira commended the people for keeping their surroundings reasonably clean and said the Assembly was organizing a “mass clean up exercise” on September 10 to avoid the spread of cholera in the area and appealed to assembly members and chiefs to coordinate the clean up exercise for its success.

Last week, the Assembly fumigated all public toilets following reports of four confirmed cases of cholera in the Municipal area.

Madam Joycelyn Akorfa Ochlich, Executive Director, CDC, said the Town Hall meeting was geared towards ensuring good governance and her outfit would organise another by the end of the year.
