Five fraudsters remanded in prison custody

Sekondi, Aug. 2, GNA- A Sekondi High Court on Monday remanded four Nigerians and a Ghanaian to prison custody for impersonation and defrauding by false pretences.

They would re-appear on October 18, 2004.

They are Francis Uyanwwune, 44, Evangeline Olisa, a 24-year old student, Innocent Uzoigwe, 29, Monday Oliseh, 30, a trader and Sylvester Nyanyo, 31, a Ghanaian accountant.

The accused persons were alleged to have posed as personnel of “the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF)” and used that to defraud several people.

Their pleas were not taken and the facts of the case were also not presented.

The group had earlier appeared before a Sekondi Magistrate’s Court but the case was transferred to the High Court.
