Fisherman struck by thunder

Tema, June 13, GNA – A 32-year-old fisherman, Annor Baah was struck dead by thunder early Monday morning when he and three of his colleagues went for a fishing expedition.
Baah also known as Akpeley was found dead by his colleagues after the thunder struck three times at about 0330 hours on Monday morning. Mr Ahunu Otu, told the Ghana News Agency on Monday that after the thunder struck, all four of them in the canoe fell and were blinded by the light.
Mr Otu said when normalcy returned, they realised that the Akpeley was dead with his panty burnt.
He said they quickly withdrew out their net from the sea and returned ashore.
Mr Otu said they waited till daybreak and reported the incident to the Chief Fisherman who in turn directed them to report the matter to the police.
He said due to the strangeness of the event, an oracle was contacted and it revealed that Akpeley was killed by a shrine from the Volta Region for allegedly taking someone’s belongings.
Mr Otu said the shrine has to be contacted for some more rituals before the police can take the body to the mortuary.
When contacted, Chief Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident and said a team of officers from the command was waiting for the performance of the rituals before taking the body to the mortuary.
