Fire kills two brothers

Amedzikope, (V/R), June 5, GNA – Two brothers, aged three years and eight months, were burnt to death when the room in which they were sleeping was razed by fire at Amedzikope near Agbozume. Courage and Bismarck Kotso were burnt beyond recognition and have since been buried. The cause of the fire is yet to be known. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr Mawuli Kotso, father of the boys, said the incident occurred at about 2130 hours last Friday night.

He said he left the house that evening to visit some friends only to come back at about 2130 to see his house on fire. He said his wife, Martha Ametsi, had also left the children as they slept in the room, to take her bath.

Mr Kotso said his wife joined him to put out the fire and when they broke into the room they found both boys burnt to death. Mr Henry Ametepe, Volta Regional Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization, who presented two student mattresses and a bag of rice to the couple, cautioned people to use fire safely. He asked the Assemblyman of the area to estimate the cost of damage and make a report to NADMO for assistance.
