Fire guts Tamale market

Goods and properties worth millions of cedis were destroyed when fire gutted the Tamale Abuabu market on Tuesday morning.

According to PEACE FM correspondent, Kwabena Ntow, the fire started at about 1am on Tuesday, consuming bags of rice, beans, maize and other items on the market.

The cause of the fire is however not known.

“We were informed of the fire immediately it started but by the time we came, everything was in ashes…we couldn’t retrieve even one bag,” one of the traders said.

Meanwhile, personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have been able to put out the fire.
