Fire destroys household chattels

Breman Asikuma (C/R), May 7, GNA – A 10-year-old pupil, playing with a box of matches set ablaze a room and damaged properties worth thousands of cedis at Breman Asikuma last Friday. Properties destroyed included floor carpet, curtains, utensils, chairs, cushions, table and a TV set.

Briefing the reporter on Friday at her residence, the victim, Madam Helena Hammond said that at about 1400 hours, her granddaughter returned from school and went into the room, while she was resting outside in a kiosk.

Said in a few minutes the grand-daughter returned to inform her that the room was in flames. Madam Hammond said it took personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and sympathisers about 20 minutes to fight the fire.
