Final year student drowned

Basil Governor, a student of the Ideal College Madina, Accra got drowned in the sea at Denu on April 4.

Governor who was visiting his mother for the Easter festivities was a candidate in this year’s West Africa Secondary School Examinations.

He was staying with his father in Accra a close family source told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The source said at about 1430 hours on the fateful day the deceased went to the Denu Market where his mother was selling and together with a friend went to the beach.

The source said Governor was swept by strong currents into the deep seas.

The story was corroborated by the Police in an interview with the GNA.

The source said efforts by some fishermen to save Governor failed and only his dead body was washed ashore at Atorku Kope near Aflao the following day.

The body is being kept at Saint Anthony’s Hospital at Dzodze pending autopsy. Meanwhile the Police are looking for Governor’s friend to assist in investigations.
