Final appeal to clear 39 corpses from morgue

Koforidua, March 20, GNA – The management of Koforidua Regional Hospital(KRH) on Monday issued its final warning to families with corpses in the hospital’s morgue to remove them by Friday March 24, to pave the way for an emergency maintenance of the morgue.

The management expressed concern that despite various advertisement on local radio stations and press releases asking families to remove the corpses from the morgue by Friday March 17, about 39 corpses still remained in the morgue.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency(GNA) at Koforidua, Mr Victor Owusu, Administrator of the hospital, said Spanish engineers had arrived to carry out the maintenance work but the unclaimed corpses were preventing them from starting the work.

He said the management therefore, decided to extend the deadline to Friday, March 24, and warned that after the new date, the management would be forced to take the “necessary action” for the maintenance to commence.

Mr Owusu advised the affected families to consider the new date as final date that would not be extended.
