Film tracks trip to Ghana

A 32-minute documentary that follows the volunteer group Team Ghana during an August 2004 trip to Ghana, will be screened Sunday as part of a fundraiser for the troupe.

A group of six women from Hudson and Minnesota traveled to the West African country last year to meet with citizens and assess the needs of women and children in economically struggling villages. St. Paul-based filmmaker Giovanni Messner followed the group and put together the documentary last fall, titled “Ghana is in Africa.” It has been shown at several film festivals around the country.

The film will be screened at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Riverview Theater, 3800 42nd Ave. S., Minneapolis, and will be preceded by a 2:45 p.m. silent auction. A reception will follow.

Admission is free but donations will be accepted. Proceeds go toward future Team Ghana missions.
