In a video message released after Ghana’s 1–0 victory over Comoros in Accra on Sunday, a result that confirmed their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico and the United States, Infantino Congratulated the Black Stars of Ghana for qualifying for the 2026 World cup, said Ghana’s presence will once again enrich the global spectacle.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, has also praised Ghanaian football fans for the passion, colour and energy they bring to the world stage, as the Black Stars sealed their return to the FIFA World Cup.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history,” he said. “Your fans will bring colour, style and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026.”
The FIFA President described the qualification as a defining moment not only for Ghana but for African football, highlighting the unique atmosphere created by Ghanaian supporters at international tournaments.
He also expressed optimism that Ghana could replicate their historic run at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, where they became only the third African nation to reach the quarter-finals.
“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarter-finals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010,” Infantino said.
“But for now, enjoy this special moment, and we cannot wait to see who the Black Stars will face when we have the final tournament draw on the fifth of December.”
Ghana’s qualification marks their fifth appearance at the World Cup, having first featured in 2006. The four-time African champions will now turn their attention to preparations for the 2026 tournament, with fans and officials eagerly awaiting the group stage draw on 5 December.
For many supporters, the journey has already begun and the world, it seems, is ready to welcome Ghana back with open arms.
