FDA Suspends Production of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix Over Safety Concerns

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has directed Nutrifoods Ghana Limited to immediately halt production of its Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, citing major health and safety violations at the company’s facility.

In a statement released on Sunday, August 3, the FDA confirmed that the suspension follows an earlier order recalling all canned versions of the product, along with selected batches of the 380g and 1.05kg pouch packs.

The regulatory body explained that the decision came after a series of consumer complaints triggered a detailed inspection of the company’s operations.

According to the FDA, the probe uncovered poorly maintained manufacturing equipment and inadequate monitoring systems to guarantee product safety and quality.

The Authority noted that Nutrifoods will not be allowed to resume production until it fully rectifies the violations and meets all safety standards.

“Monitoring efforts will continue to ensure strict compliance and protect public health,” the FDA added.
