FDA disposes off unwholesome products in Wa

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has disposed off unwholesome products estimated at GH? 30,320.00 at the Wa Municipal land field site.

The products that were confiscated by the Authority during post-market surveillance include both expired and unregistered products that were being peddled in the market putting the life of consumers at risk.

Mr Georden Akurugu, FDA Upper West Regional Director said the exercise was necessary in order to clear the market of unwholesome products to protect the health of consumers during the festive season.

He advised the public to be careful when buying products from the market by checking the expiry dates and whether they are registered by the FDA.

Mr Akurugu urged consumers to make it a responsibility to check the safety of all consumables in the market before buying them to avoid spending their money to contract sickness.

He said they should endeavour to report to the FDA if they find any expired or unregistered product in the market for immediate action.
