Father, student granted bail over incest and abduction

A 40-year old driver Edem Fedeluy who is accused of impregnating his 17- year- old daughter at Adenta, Accra on Tuesday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court.

Fedeluy charged with incest pleaded not guilty, but the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava admitted him to GH¢10,000.00 bail with four sureties.

Alex Nyarko, a student who is accused of abducting the victim, has also pleaded not guilty and was also admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢2,000.00 with two sureties.

The accused persons are expected to reappear on September 17.

Prosecuting Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adiza Suleman told the court that the complainant has dropped out of school.

On August 10, Fedeluy reported to the Police that the victim was missing and the following day led the Police to Nyarkos house, who had abducted her for four days.

Prosecution said during investigation, it came to light that the victim was abandoned by her mother when she was seven months. Fedeluy therefore took care of her until she was 12 years when he started abusing her sexually.

The victim got pregnant and delivered. Soon after, Fedeluy took the victim to a Family Planning Centre where she was put on a five- year contraceptive so that he could continue defiling her.

Prosecution said Fedeluy also gave the victim an alcoholic beverage known as Kasapreko and mixed it with honey any time he had sex with her.

According to the prosecutor anytime she drunk the mixture the victim became drowsy and the accused had sex with her three times a week.

This compelled the victim to vacate her fathers house to seek shelter with Nyarko who took advantage and abducted her.
