Father Abizi laid to rest

Takoradi, April 22, GNA – Burial took place at Apowa on Tuesday of Rev Fr Augustine Kizito Abizi, Parish Priest of Martyrs of Uganda Parish at Beach Road in Takoradi.

Father Abizi, 60, died at the San Camillo Hospital in Rome last month after a protracted illness.

Peter Cardinal Appiah Turkson, Archbishop of Cape Coast, was the main celebrant at the burial service that took place at the Star of the Sea Cathedral in Takoradi.

In a sermon Most Rev Charles Palmer-Buckle, Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, appealed to Christians to gracefully carry their cross and follow Jesus to Calvary although the journey would be full of suffering and difficulties.

He said Rev Fr Abizi suffered very much in the last three years of his life but whatever happened to him was God’s own plan because nothing happens without God.

He said the reason why Father Abizi underwent such suffering should cause renewal of faith in the power of Jesus Christ. “Father Abizi is with the Lord and no where else and died after the passion of Christ in the Easter season. He tried to lead a holy, devoted and untarnished life and prepared for the Lord.” The Archbishop said.
