Speaking on behalf of the farmers in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency at Asukasu No 1 near Dormaa Ahenkro, Nana David Oppong, Municipal Chief Farmer, described the nomination as “another Presidential honour bestowed on the people of the area, who must reciprocate with support and cooperation”. Nana Oppong explained that the nominee had all the qualities and values needed to stand up to the challenges of the position. He noted that Mr Amponsah, a veteran New Patriotic Party activist and one time constituency chairman, was well versed in the party’s manifesto and therefore a good material for the job.
