Farmers appeal to Government to rehabilitate Kwame Wettey-Atuahkrom road

Awutu-Kwame Wettey (C/R), April 2, GNA – Farmers living in and around Awutu-Kwame Wettey and Awutu-Atuahkrom in the Central Region, have appealed to the Government to rehabilitate the six-kilometre road linking the two villages and Awutu-Okwampa.

Making the call at a meeting with the Assemblyman for the area, Mr Emmanuel Asamani on Friday, the farmers said, the deplorable condition of the road was seriously hampering the marketing of their produce.

The situation they added was also affecting their interest in farming because it was slowing the flow of goods and services, reducing their incomes and making life unbearable. Mr Asamani told the farmers that he had already channeled their grievances to the Awutu/Senya District Assembly for redress. He assured them that the District Chief Executive for Awutu/Senya, Dr Adams Nuhu would do everything possible to ensure that the issue obtained favourable results.

Mr Asamani said government was aware of the important role food producers played in national development and would surely address the problem before the rains set in. Mr Asamani also appealed to the Awutu/Senya District Assembly to construct drainages in Bawjiase Zongo to protect life and property during the rainy season later this year. 2 April 11
