Farmer remanded for stealing knapsack sprayer

Mankranso (Ash), Nov 5, GNA – A magistrate Court at Mankranso on Tuesday remanded a 20-year-old farmer into prison custody for stealing a knapsack-spraying machine valued at 650,000 cedis.

Yaw Benjamin pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on November 16. Police Chief Inspector Carl Michael Adjeng told the court that Margaret Kyereme, the complainant lived at Mehame in the Ahafo-Ano South district while Benjamin lived at Duayaw-Nkwanta.

He said at about 11 hours on July 16, this year, the complainant travelled to Mankranso and when he returned from the journey he realised that the machine was stolen from his room.

He said an informant hinted the complainant that the accused wanted to sell the machine to him (informant) but accused could not produce documents.

Chief Inspector Adjeng said there was already a theft case involving the suspect.
