Farmer remanded for defilement

Nkawie (Ash), Feb 1, GNA – The Nkawie magistrate court has remanded George Obeng Agyemang, a farmer, into prison custody for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old pupil of the Atwima-Koforidua district assembly primary school.

His plea was not taken and will re-appear on February 8. Police Chief Inspector Robert Yitamkey told the court, presided over by Mr. Noble Nkrumah that at about 2130 hours on January 22, this year, the suspect under the cover of darkness lured the victim into an uncompleted building and forcibly had sex with her. The prosecution said the victim, who could not withstand the pain after the act, informed her parents about her ordeal who reported the case to the Abuakwa police.

Inspector Yitamkey said when the suspect got wind of the report to the police, he went into hiding but was later arrested following a tip-off.
